Our teacher, Catherine Barnum, is a licensed Early Childhood Educator trained under Waldkinder/ Forest Kindergarten Methods, with Erin Kenny of Cedarsong Forest Kindergarten, Forest School Canada's Nature and Forest School Practitioner's Training Program, and Mother Earth School's Waldorf inspired teacher training. Catherine is passionate about best practices for fostering a child's true potential and continues learning from amazing mentors such as Erin Kenny, Kelly Hogan, Marlene Power, Tricia Edgar and many others. She has previous experience teaching within a Waldorf based classroom, with Margo Running. She trained formally at Capilano University under the Reggio Emilia method. She is a Master Herbalist, and works to find creative ways to bring herbal knowledge to young children. Catherine blends each of the these influences to create a holistic approach to teaching which stimulates both teacher and students.
Curriculum for our 3-5 program focuses on building relationships, instilling empathy, creating social responsibility and developing the basic cognitive, language and problem solving skills needed for success in kindergarten.
